Having an emotional affair is always detrimental in any healthy relationship. Secretive behavior. Is he hiding his emails from you, constantly deleting his internet history or simply ignores your calls or text messages because he's too busy? Then he must be hiding something from you. As always, secrets are bad in any relationship, whether he's having an emotional affair or just about anything.
Suggest you meet his friend. If he's spending so much time with that woman, tell him you want to meet her. When that happens, pay attention how she behaves in front of you. Does she know a lot about your relationship? Is she avoiding your partner when the three of you are together? Does your partner touch her even if you're there? The presence of guilt is enough to convince you that something is going on between them.
