Back in 1994, when animated films were not yet rendered in three-dimensional screens, movies like Lion King was at the top of its class. Every kid who had watched it instantly fell in love with Simba and his friends Pumbaa and Timon. With its fan base growing older and the animation industry turning fast on computer generated imagery, Lion King became just another Disney animated film on the shelf until 1997 when Simba and his friends came out of the big screens and into the performing stage.

Not long after, the West End production of the musical began. The musical premiered at the Lyceum Theatre in 1999. Soon people from all walks of life are eager to get their hands on Lion King Tickets. The good thing about this Disney Musical is that nothing much has been changed when the movie was adapted to the theatre. Kids can still expect songs they have come to love in the home video like I Just Cant Wait to be King, Hakuna Matata, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight. Whats even better is that production set has pushed the boundaries of theatre sets by recreating Pride Rock, Simbas home, as well as the other places within the savannah. Add to that the intricate designs of the characters costumes and you have the makings of a great musical. And because the musical was directly adapted from the movie, the characters unique personality are still imbibed by the actors who portray them. For example, hyena Ed still has that playful and somewhat carefree behaviour. Scar is still that sarcastic lion and Timon is still an annoying but friendly meerkat.

The Lion King is not the only successful movie adaptation in recent years. Alfred Hitchcocks The 39 Steps London performance also proves to be as successful. This 1915 novel by John Buchan was adapted to the silver screen by the great Alfred Hitchcock himself in 1935. When the musical was adapted to the theatre, the producers wanted to keep the attention of its audience, instead of always giving them cliffhangers. So what they did was they put humor on the script. What is very unique in The 39 Steps is that this musical farce only has a cast of four with one actor playing the protagonist Richard Hannay, another actress playing three women and two different actors playing all the other characters in the play. The audience might not notice it at first, but there are some scenes when an actor plays multiple characters all at once. While the spy angle of the play was an integral part of the book and of the film, it is mainly a source of laughter from the audience.

The Mousetrap London by Agatha Christie offers a more serious plot than The 39 Steps. And while it has never been adapted to the big screen, it is considered as the longest running play in the West End in London. Making its debut in 1952, the show has had more than 24,000 performances. Made famous by the twist at the ending, the shows audience is always asked not to reveal the real killer in the story. For decades the secret of the Mousetrap killer stayed inside the St. Martins Theatre, until an online article leaked the identity of the killer in 2010. Even when a number of people already knew the twist at the ending, many are still eager to see the play to this very day. This play is perfect for people who want not only to be entertained but be thrilled and enthralled as well.

Lion King Tickets are still selling like hot cakes these days. This is despite the fact that the musical version is virtually the same as the movie version. But what people like about adaptations like Lion King, The 39 Steps London and even a long running play like the Mousetrap London, is that they offer something more that what we have seen before. It could be in the form of a great stage design, the impressive improvisations on stage or simply the building up of the suspense in every scene. This is what the viewers long to see. And this is the kind of show that London theatres can provide.
