Nobody has learned if car designers are working on something different so your only real option is a hybrid.
The only option you have for those who simply want the best would be the Toyota Prius. In the event the Prius perhaps is out of your range, you may want to consider the other hybrids. The Honda Hybrids are actually excellent options if you are searching for a hybrid on a budget. In the event you favor a special brand of car, you probably want to consider the Toyota Prius. One issue that may keep you from buying the car is the look.
Car manufacturers really are working on creating a more efficient vehicle, but right now it hasn't shown up.
