If you follow pharmaceutical lawsuits much, you may know that current Yasmin lawsuits are continuing to be filed. This fourth generation birth control is made from a relatively new form of synthetic progesterone that come critics believe did not undergo sufficient testing before it was released to the general public. This progesterone when combined with the synthetic estrogen in this dual action hormonal birth control may cause a variety of problems, which is why lawsuits are being filed regarding this medication.

There are many alleged problems with Yasmin and its manufacturers, and many women and their families are currently in the middle of lawsuits surrounding this hormonal birth control. Although there isn’t a class action lawsuit in which many plaintiffs are brought together in one case, many individual cases are being brought against the manufacturers of Yasmin and its sister drugs, Yaz and Ocella. These lawsuits are built on cases that include some of the following counts against the manufacturers of these drugs.

Yasmin was marketed as a safe, effective birth control when it isn’t safe. There isn’t much question that Yasmin is effective as a birth control. Its safety can certainly be questioned, though. This is the basis of many arguments against the manufacturers of this drug, but it is supported by several others.

The makers of Yasmin didn’t adequately test it or put enough care into it before putting it on the market, thus endangering many lives. This is where the crux of the argument really is. One of its main ingredients is actually based on a synthetic progesterone that was found more than ten years ago to seriously increase risks of blood clots. There are arguments that the testing of Yasmin was rushed and that it wasn’t really ready for the market when the company said it was.

The makers of Yasmin failed to adequately warn consumers and doctors of the danger the medication brought with it. Many people assume that Yasmin is safe because doctors are prescribing it. The problem, though, is that many doctors weren’t even aware of the ways in which this particular medication was more dangerous than other hormonal birth controls. Even though it carried higher risk of things like blood clots and gallbladder disease than other medications, consumers were not warned of these potential side effects.

Some critics have stated that Yasmin was marketed carelessly. This argument often hinges on the fact that Yasmin was aggressively marketed particularly to younger women without the resources to know what its risks were for them. Because of this, many young women have ended up suffering from Yasmin side effects that were potentially life threatening.

For all these reasons, many women are taking the makers of Yasmin and Yasmin to court for damages. Compensation gained can often cover medical expenses, and sometimes it’s even more than this. If you have suffered from some of the side effects of these medications, it may be time to consult with a birth control attorney and find out your legal options.
