Michelangelo is a well known name in the world of art and paintings. He has also got mentions in the high school history books as the most famous master artist of the renaissance times and the artist who took art to a different level. Known as Michelangelo to the world his full name was Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni which itself was too long to be famous and well known.

Michelangelo was born in the year 1975 on 6th march. He was to become the most famous artist of all times as all his works including that in art, poetry, sketches, sculptors got a high level of exposure and appreciation that indeed brought him a great success and fame all his life.

As we go deeply studying his life and introduction to art we find that Michelangelo at a very young age was drawn to art, as he had very little inclination towards academics and studies. Although his interest into art was very strong yet at a very tender age of thirteen he got a chance to become an apprenticeship to Domenici Ghirlandaio as a painter. In later years he was sent away to the Humanist academy where got introduced to another form of art i.e. sculptor. As he aged, Michelangelo spent most of his time in Italy, including a significant periods in Rome. It was in Florence in 1504 that he created one of his two most famous works that are remembered as a master piece even in today's times.

One of Michelangelo Buonarroti most famous and prestigious artworks have been that of a commissioned work to paint the ceiling within Sistine Chapel. He started this job in the year 1508 and it took four years for him to complete the task in a pure masterly manner. This work of his considered by many to be along with the statue of David to be among the most significant works of art that we still have in the world. After seeing his wonderful work of art on the ceiling the church authorities also awarded him a prestigious task to create the Pope's Tomb, to work on the Basilica of San Lorenzo, and to work again on the Sistine Chapel to create "The Last Judgement". He was also the architect who completed the design of St. Peters Basilica in the Vatican.

This great master artist died in 1564, before the completion of the dome at St. Peters, although it was completed very closely according to his design by other leading artist of those times.
